Rancour are a hardcore band from Cardiff, Wales that begun in 2016. Featuring members of Venom Prison, and ex-members of Judgement, World Weary and Pipedream. FFO Clevo, Ringworm

Here’s what Chuck & Reid from the band had to say when we asked them a few questions earlier this month.

How did the band form?

Reid: I’d wanted to do a 90s Clevo-style hc band for a while, on the Ringworm/Integ side of things, started writing some bits and recruited people that were keen. After a few personnel changes here we are.

What’s been the highlight of the band’s career so far?

Reid: Playing both Cold as Life shows was a highlight! Chuck: Probably the whole recording process for the new record. I’m just stoked on how it’s looking and sounding, and how comfortable it was to do.

Which bands are you digging at the moment?

Reid: All the new Brighton bands are class; State funeral, Never, Vile Spirit, Imposter, list goes on. Mourning demo was sick, new Cheap Surgery is great.

Chuck: Yeah, Never are sick. I’m also really into that new Bib record at the moment.

What’s the plan for the rest of the year and 2018?

Chuck: Hopefully just play as many cool places/shows as we can. I’m sure we’ll start writing for the next release eventually.

How’s 2017 treated you as a band and what’s been the highlight?

Chuck: The run of shows we did in the Summer was great, recording and releasing the 7” is the other high point.

Do you have any weird rituals before going on stage?

Reid: Topless bomber.

What’s your favourite venue to play and why?

Reid: Cathays practice room in Cardiff is always good fun, The Unicorn in London is another favourite as I grew up playing shows there with various bands and get to see all my homies from London when we play there!

Chuck: Not a venue, but I always love just going up and playing shows in Scotland. Otherwise, Cathays practice rooms is great, it’s just super compact and in your face.

What album is the one album you listen to at least once a week?

Reid: Stone Roses S/T and Bad Brains S/T, every week.

Chuck: I just binge albums for a week or two rather than have one go to album. But Pearl Jam and the Stone Roses S/T finds themselves in rotation most.
